General Manager

Big Spring

GRANT TO RETIRE FROM CRMWD John Grant, long-time general manager of Colorado River Municipal Water District (CRMWD, has announced plans to retire. He has served as CRMWD’s chief executive since 1995. “John has done an outstanding job of leading the water district for more than two decades, and we are sorry to see him go, but he has certainly earned his retirement,” said CRMWD board president Mickey Jones. “We will John all the best.” In addition to his leadership at CRMWD, Grant also serves as chairman of the Region F Regional Water Planning Group, a 32-county regional water planning area in West Texas. He is past president of the Texas Water Conservation Association, member of the American Water Works Association, and board member of the TWCA Risk Management Find. Prior to joining the district, Grant was with the engineering firm Freese and Nichols, where his primary responsibilities were related to the planning, design, and construction of major water supply projects across the State of Texas. “Leaving the water district is like leaving home,” Grant said. “I will miss the CRMWD family, but am looking forward to the next phase of my life.” A national search for Grant’s successor is underway and is being managed by Lehman Associates of Austin. CRMWD, founded in 1949, provides wholesale raw water to its member cities Big Spring, Odessa, and Snyder, as well as six additional municipal customers in West Texas. The district serves more than 600,000 Texans in a service area that includes 36 counties, as well as serving three industrial, seven mining, and approximately 300 rural water customers. CRMWD is governed by a board of directors whose 12 members are appointed by the three member cities.
